Navigating Early Recovery
The early days of recovery can be both exciting and challenging as you adjust to a new way of life. One of the biggest challenges many of us faced during this time was navigating the people, places, and things that might trigger cravings to use and lead to a possible setback in our recovery.
Our #1 sobriety tip to anyone new in recovery is to avoid spending time with people who may encourage you to drink or use drugs or socializing at risky places like bars, neighborhood parties (where the drinks are flowing) or casinos. Instead, surround yourself with supportive friends, peers, and family members who understand your commitment to sobriety, and remember you can always reach out to us for extra support.
Recovery is a journey and it's okay to ask for help when you need it. Stay strong, stay sober, and congratulations again on this important step in your life.
Recovery is a Journey, Not a Destination...
It's a testament to the strength of the human spirit, a phoenix rising from the ashes. It's never too late to turn the page and embark on a new chapter. Remember, the past does not define your future. Every sunrise brings a new opportunity to rewrite your story, to let go of what was and embrace what can be... for within you lies the power to transform your life and create a brighter tomorrow, drug and alcohol free.

Actor Tom Holland
Tom Holland (28) star of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" opened up about his sober lifestyle, and how his wellbeing has shifted since he ditched the booze over two years ago. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in May 2023, the actor revealed that he'd been sober for over a year. He later, appeared on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast, and said that he had been "definitely addicted to alcohol." In more recent interviews the actor admits that he is the "happiest" he’s "ever been" and that his decision to embrace an alcohol-free lifestyle has increased his wellbeing.

Smart Recovery's
Approach
SMART Recovery is the leading, evidence-informed approach to overcoming addictive behaviors and leading a balanced life. SMART is stigma-free and emphasizes self-empowerment. The program is grounded in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and supports people in overcoming substance dependencies and negative behaviors.
Imagine a place where recovery isn't just about individual healing, but about transforming the very soil where addiction takes root. Where communities reclaim their power to nurture well-being, and families find strength in shared resilience. That's the California we're creating.
